Behind this question is probably something sincere: a real longing, maybe years of reading, listening, and practicing, and a quiet suspicion that all that effort has not brought you closer. That suspicion can be unsettling, because the longing feels so genuine, and it seems unfair that the very thing which moved you to look at all could be what keeps you from finding. It is worth saying plainly that nothing about the wanting is shameful. It is the natural expression of a heart that senses there is more to life than the surface, and it is what brought you to every teaching that has actually touched you. The difficulty is only that wanting, by its structure, faces forward, toward a moment when you will finally have it, and so it carries a quiet message that right now something is missing. Each new teaching can then become a way of holding that message gently in place, even as it offers real comfort and insight. This is why “further” fits, though not because you have failed or because realization sits far away. The reaching itself creates a distance that was never there, much like searching for glasses that are already on your face, where the searching is earnest and the frustration real, and yet the looking is what keeps the finding just out of reach. If this feels familiar, there is nothing to correct in you. Seeing how the wanting works, with kindness and without condemning it, is already a different relationship to it, and that shift is often where things begin to loosen.
