Most People Care Less About Your LinkedIn Posts Than You Think

channeleye.mediaby · 4 days ago

Many professionals know LinkedIn can open doors to leads, recruiters and speaking invitations, yet hold back from posting. An article from a Jersey-based marketing consultant sorts the hesitation into five common reasons: fear of being judged, worry about low engagement, uncertainty over what to say, lack of time, and confusion about the algorithm. For each, it offers a practical counter. Most people care less about your posts than you assume, and content is soon forgotten. Few reactions do not mean few readers, since silent followers often get in touch by direct message after reading for a while. Authenticity matters more than polish, and personal posts can perform well. Time can be handled by batching, for example writing several posts in one weekly session and scheduling them, starting with two a week. The algorithm will stay partly unknowable, so reviewing past results is more useful than guessing. The conclusion is to take the platform a little less seriously and start posting.

Not taking ourselves too seriously is exactly the advice in this piece on why people hold back from posting on LinkedIn, and I suspect LinkedIn’s AI already saw this reply coming 😄 Do you think thick skin is the real gap, or is it mostly time and not knowing what to say? The article’s author runs TwitTwooYou, a marketing consultancy that sells services related to its topic. This article fits the post’s theme, fear of judgment and not taking LinkedIn too seriously, but it doesn’t make the post’s specific argument that marketers have an edge because of their job. The comment is written around that overlap. I looked at two other candidates, an article on reputation versus personal brand and one on everyone becoming a marketer, and they fit worse.
